The Bath Chronicle
At the heart of Shoreditch is the Hoxton Hotel which is the perfect base for a summer city break. It’s all about luxury on a budget. There’s no suites or minibars stocked with £4 cans of soft drink, and the rooms aren’t the most spacious in London. They are super- stylish however with comfortable beds, and sleek bathrooms with brilliant showers, free wifi and even up to an hour of free phone calls all over the world. There’s a fridge, with complimentary water and fresh milk, and if you want to stock it with treats yourself then you can buy drinks and snacks at reception, all at supermarket prices.
Also included in the price is a breakfast bag delivered to your door with orange juice, a banana and a yoghurt with granola. It’s not quite a full English, but you can enjoy it from the comfort of your bed and if you do fancy something a bit more substantial then the Hoxton Grill downstairs does a good line in breakfasts. It felt like everything had been
designed for the ease and convenience of guests, rather than to make money and I couldn’t help thinking that some budget airlines could learn a lot from The Hox. When we arrived on a Friday afternoon the bar was already buzzing and by evening the party was in full swing. But although it’s almost painfully cool, it’s not pretentious, and the atmosphere
was very relaxed.
