Anthem

We were lucky enough to bid for a building on Calvert Avenue, one of the most beautiful streets in Shoreditch.

It's housed in a store on the Boundary Estate, one of the first examples of social housing in Europe. As it's owned by the council, the overheads are really low so it was an opportunity that we couldn't refuse. Shoreditch has been at the forefront of London's social scene for nearly 20 years. People and businesses have grown up around here, the city is moving ever closer and it's now becoming a really viable retail area. Over the next five years you will see ever increasing high profile retailers moving into the area that are trying to capitalise on the wealth that is being generated here and ride the areas cache. ANTHEM has been one of the first to recognise that and house our business here.

My top 5 places in shoreditch

Pelliccis
Pelliccis

Pelliccis on Bethnal Green Road is a traditional east end cafe that still retains the charm of the 50's and 60's. Run by the same family, this is where the infamous Krays used to hang out. Great traditional full English.

Rochelle Canteen
Rochelle Canteen

Rochelle Canteen, tucked away in an old school shed, this place focuses on simply British fare made from the best ingredients the UK has to offer. Run by Fergus Henderson's wife (St John) this place keeps it simple and lets the ingredients speak for themselves. No fuss, just good honest cooking.

Galleries / Museums
Galleries / Museums

There are numerous independent galleries on Redchurch Street that have constantly revolving exhibitions. More mainstream is the White Cube gallery on Hoxton Square. The Geffrye Museum is also a must on Kingsland Road

Broadway Market
Broadway Market

Broadway food market on a Saturday now has a great roster of food stalls selling the best of British produce. Sample the best burger and chips in town.

Dalston Drinking
Dalston Drinking

The drinking/music scene in Dalston is where everyone in the know goes. Birthdays, Barden's and The Shacklewell Arms are all great for listening to fantastic, underground music or DJs as well as drinking…
